This is a collection of resources from Puritans of the 1600s, such as Thomas Manton and Patrick Gillespie, with doctrinal instruction on Personal Covenanting; augmented or "illustrated" with personal covenants from some of the Covenanters of the 1700s. These resources are all of different lengths, beginning with a 9-page discussion on personal covenanting from Thomas Manton, extracted from a sermon on John 20.27-28.
The longest section is a chapter from Patrick Gillespie's "Ark of the Covenant Opened," providing considerations on the Covenant of Grace as it is Particular and Personal.
This title is an ideal supplement to William Guthrie's "Christian's Great Interest" because it fills in many details (and supplies examples) related to the topic with which he finishes his treatise.
The authors of the personal covenants at the end of this work are William McNeil, Anabel Umpherston, and John Howie of Lochgoin (author of the title "Scots Worthies.")
